One of my favorite places to attempt to catch fish is at a confluence. Where a local creek meets the river. I float down the shelf where they meet, pull the boat over the line, and row back up stream to try and get that spot where the stream water meets the current.
That is a place that fish like to be.
And lately they don’t always seem to be home. Sometimes the rain makes the water coming in murky. Sometimes the bite is just off. “Perhaps the fish already ate,” I say.
So I row on in search for clearer water and a better bite..
That is how writing has felt these days.
The past few months have been wonderful. I’ve spent a lot of time on the river, traveling to my new favorite national park, getting into a new routine and schedule with the kiddo. It has been good.
I spent some time on the river with a lovely organization that supports women navigating breast cancer. My guest learned how to fly fish and even got a few on!
I’ve also enrolled in another unit of Clinical Psycho-spiritual (Pastoral) Education. My last unit ended February 2025 and so it has been a long while since I’ve been in the classroom. CPE continues to be a gift to my spirit.
Friends, there are so many good things. And a few hard things.
Holding the best for you.
